Arthur Terry School was constructed as part of the "building schools for the future" programme. The school was a new three storey secondary school building on an existing site, offering enhanced facilities for this successful over-subscribed local school. A phased build allowed the site to be continuously open with partners working to minimise disruption. The pupils and staff were involved in designing the new facilities.

Inspiring design features include a contemporary dining room with mezzanine floor and boardroom facilities for school and community use. The unusual features maximise the effectiveness of the space, adding to the school’s sleek modern look as well as an innovative open ended atrium which allows natural ventilation and shelter.
